Hi All
Saw this for sale and thought someone might be interested. I know Merkle was looking for a small engine a little while ago.

Cheers Paul
PS Does anyone know who actually buys things from these disposals? More specifically who would be buying 1000’s of Jaguar parts?

I’m surprised the Janie police hasn’t picked you up on the thread title……!She gets very upset when she spots incorrect spellings and don’t even get her started on de Havilland………;)
The thread title has already ellicited a distinct ‘harrumph’ from ‘Rusty Tack’ at the de Havilland Moth Club!!

Thanks, David.
I’ve started to try to create a “Layman’s guide to how to identify what series of Napier Lion is this?” – perhaps, if it is successful (ie it works), I may move the formula onto another engine type. I was thinking AS Cheetahs, but the Gipsy series would be a good one?

Roger – It’s a Gipsy Major I engine from most likely a Tiger Moth. It’s upside down at present. The give away for it being anything else would be the oil filler being near the prop boss at the front if it were a Gipsy I engine ala D.H 60 Moth.

A bit strange – they say it’s a “Gypsy Moth engine” the brass plate says “Gipsy Major 1”. Although it is sitting upright on a stand wasn’t the Gipsy Major an inverted engine and only the Moth Major had it fitted??
Never-the-less be a nice museum exhibit and not too difficult to move 🙂
Also in that list is a Canberra bang seat all you Canberra cockpiteers.

Thanks Paul for thinking of me, 🙂
Sadly it has been sectioned, and as such I would have not known how to mend this , especailly as the casing has been cut, however if it was “Not” sectioned , I would have jumpe at the chance
Thanks again
Merkle 😀
