HAC Hurricane Sale

Wow! Lovely to see.

Funnily enough, the second 1940 machine that I have had a little to do with going back a while. It looks a bit different to how I last saw it in France.

What a shame Ken McGlashan is no longer around to see it. He would be thrilled.

It’s the hawker restorations example which was just awaiting its wings a month or so ago. Looks a real stunner!

No, their dampness will all be part of their charm. The sweet scent of tropical rains infused with high octane and oil and delicately coloured Daz-blue from all that aluminium oxide.

And scrape all that congealed aluminium powder off them.

I may be able to do some benches from Canadian Pine at the end January.

I suspect you may need to leave them to dry out for quite a while before they’re usable.

Can’t believe Andy Saunders built that, it’s way too sensible, given the madness of most of his creations over the years 😀

And knowing AS, I’m sure he’d be more than happy to build a ‘Turret’ sofa, if someone gave him a turret to start with 😉

Hurricanes (the windy ones!) Have alternate male and female names in alphabetical order these days

Not exactly.

The reserve price reflected the lowest price the vendor would accept (obviously) and the auctioneers felt they would stand a chance of selling it at that reserve. The vendors were not interested in letting it go below that reserve, but had it gone for that, or higher, then the vendor would have sold it. Again, obviously! Nothing to do with the reserve being lost to reality.

Simples!

He has (or at least did have in 2009) a partially restored project in storage.
