HAC Storch

This is mainly a question for Glenn Denney.

What other displays will the Storch be appearing at this year (apart from Little Gransden) and is your dad the main pilot for the aircraft? (nice display he gave on Sunday)

Thanks in advance.

If I’m remembering right, the Italian-marked Storch was an original German-built example and was proclaimed at the time to be the only German-built Storch flying. Seems a shame that she’s no longer flown.

Delving even deeper in to the loft I found this, I believe it is ARCo/HAC’s Storch 18th February 2001.

It’s now in a museum in Italy…. I guess it must have been 92/93 it was around, didn’t operate here for long though. ARCo carried out a lot of the rebuild work.

I believe HAC had an Argos powered Storch once, G-FIST, no date on pic but this is what it looked like…

The Argus engines came to be in short supply because we beat the Nazi’s !
I would love to see her in a French Indochina scheme as opposed to the run of the mill Luftwaffe pseudo markings.

Because its a licence built Storch and the French put a Renault Salmson Jacobs or Lycoming engine on the options list…as opposed to the argus – must have been good reasons for doing so, performance, economy or perhaps lack of supplies of argusususes… HACs is an MS.505 and has a Jacobs….

It would be nice to have the proper engine in it. Why does it have a radial engine?

I’d like to see the Storch at an Old Warden Show.

I’ve just added some photos of the Storch from the May airshow to the HAC website.

Thanks for you interest in the Storch. Yes Dad (Clive Denney) is the main display pilot for this aircraft this year.

The only other display that HAC have lined up for the Storch so far is the Children In Need show at Little Gransden, but HAC are talking with many organisers so watch this space.

I hope this information is helpful.

I’m glad you enjoyed its participation in the display on Sunday. It is good to see it back on the scene after a long absence.

Glenn
