Our annual two days Wings & Wheels on Easter Sunday/Monday is a much expanded event, and we hope to have a unique trio of ground running aero-engines, Napier Lion, Rolls Royce Griffon and Webster Whirlwind (7 cyl radial made by Ron Webster in his shed !) We will also have Classic Wings’ Rapide offering flights either over the Severn Valley Railway, or the four Wolverhampton Airfields (Perton/Pendeford/Dunstall Park/HG. The many visiting aircraft already booked in include a Cessna seaplane, which is a first (I presume it has wheels).
All proceeds for the Show will go to the Wolverhampton’s Tettenhall Transport Heritage Centre, for which we have signed the tenancy agreement, and for which Planning Permission has been granted (Watch this Forum).

You can fly anything anywhere as long as you don’t get higher than 25 feet, so it’s possible to taxi the Harrier over, hopping over hedges and roads. That would be a bit expensive on fuel however.

Do you think any one would notice if they flew the GR3 over instead?

Nice video by Graham Wiley of his Foxbat flight from Otherton to the Wings’s & Wheels, some of the show, including the Hercules and Leonides engine runs, and then his short flight to see a Harrier start up at a private strip near Bridgnorth. I’ve suggested they taxi the Harrier to the next Wings & Wheels, through the fields – I’ve offered to open all the gates !

It was quiet on Sunday, but nice to see ‘Taz’ out and about!

Cracking afternoon but wrong day for the engines – again! Oh well, perhaps next time!

Anyone?? I was thinking of popping over later, but the lack of any info or feedback from yesterday seems to indicate a quiet show…

As it seems a bit quiet on this thread I wonder if anyone knows what is going to be displayed and demonstrated? There are usually some engines to be run and I have missed them all on previous visits by either going on the wrong day or arriving too late! I will be visiting the Build-a-Plane project though as a good friend and ex-work colleague is heavily involved.

We won’t be advertising an aerojumble as such but anyone who wants a stall can book a place in the hangar, free of charge, but bring your own tables. The Tettenhall Transport Heritage Centre will be selling stuff in there

Are you having an aero-jumble and displays in the hangar this time, Wulfie?

A Thank You from me (and my mate Mick) to Wulfie and Vaughan and the rest of the team for an excellent little event last weekend. The atmosphere at these rural fly-ins is always really great and the weather, despite some dire predictions, turned out great on the Monday.
The arriving aircraft were all shapes and sizes, my favourite being the very tidy floatplane, G-ESSL. It was only a Cessna high-winger but up on those floats it looked every bit at home – and quite imposing too. I’ve left out most of my aircraft shots as hunterxf382 has covered these in his post.

Well this was my first time working the event under the guidance of Vaughan and Alec (Wulfie) along with a contingent from “The Events Team” as we’re collectively known from our previous experience at Kemble etc. It was actually brilliant, no in fact it was fantastic!!! Speaking on behalf of our little team who were all there for the first time, we thoroughly enjoyed it all, and pleased to see a good crowd attendance and plenty to see and do, especially on the Monday with the weather…
I have received a DVD dropped in my letterbox this morning from our roving photographer who follows us around events – Paul J Morton, and with his permission I can share them but so far I’ve only got them on facebook so far:
I’ve got some work to do uploading them elsewhere to share, so bear with me for those unable to see facebook albums 😮

Any photos or the auto & aircraft?
It sounds like a fun event…up where I live it’s still too cold/wet for events like that.

Thanks to everyone who came, I hope you had a good time. We had our best weekend ever, in terms of visitors. There were no a huge number of visiting aircraft, but what did come were classics, and we had the best static ever. The money raised will go a long way to restoring the Tettenhall Transport Heritage Centre’s building.

Sorry, Mike, I have not been checking my pm s as you surmise. Only just sat down after a hard day. We would love to have your Cheetah, and you can come in the hangar with me, and keep warm and dry, though the weather forecast is a lot better than it was.
By: Consul - 19th April 2014 at 18:29
You are quite correct, I happen to have a stack of Classic Wings’ leaflets at my elbow, as I was typing, and a touch of brain fade resulted in them being credited with the Rapide flights
Not to worry. I hope you have a super event and that the weather forecast is wrong.
Tim

Wulfie,
PM’d you a couple of days ago to see if you wanted my (static Cheetah) engine at the show. You obviously haven’t been checking your PM’s!:p
I’ll be down tomorrow afternoon to be ready to set up for the Monday, if you want me/it. An indoor spot would be appreciated due to forecast showers.
