Put bluntly, I wonder why I, or any of us, still come here – other than out of a misplaced sense of nostalgia!

Exactly! I don’t remember when I joined but it must have been some 15-20 years ago, at least. My post count isn’t very high but I like to scroll the forum for information and to “keep up” with events. I said to myself that I’ll give it until the new year but if nothing has improved at that time, I’ll probably become a stranger.

Over at Warbirds Worldwide, there was a problem with spammers. A reporting system is in place. Scott and his “little helpers” do something about it and now there is hardly any spammers registering or being active. That’s how it should be done but if the “little helpers” overe here have no “powers”, then what could they do?

… and to not add to the effect of spammers, this is the last I have to say on the matter …  … !

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything here, or even visited the forum; it really seems to be a shadow of its former self. It is nice to see a few familiar members still posting and it reminds me of the many, many happy hours (too many really!) that I spent making my small contribution to the collective knowledge this forum used to be known for. Anyway…

…as others have said, no, not a Bristol Hercules piston…

…but it is a Mercedes-Benz piston and connecting-rod.

I wonder what ‘big bucks’ the seller actually wanted?

Because, I suspect, the main thrust of the criticism is directed at Key Publishing, which could do something about it but either choses not or neglects to do so. However I’m with you to a point, Christer. If Key Publishing reads these comments, evidently it doesn’t give a damn about them. So maybe I and others should stop banging our heads against this brick wall?

The other theory could be that now that this forum is so content poor, we’re commenting on the scammers because there’s nothing better to which to address our comments. Put bluntly, I wonder why I, or any of us, still come here – other than out of a misplaced sense of nostalgia!

Why don’t we just stop commenting on it? If each spam generates at least one or two comments, then the problem is doubled or tripled or …

It seems that there’s no stopping the scammers here – well there is, but those with the power to do so don’t seem interested in exercising it!

Yep. They were asking big bucks for it hence why I wanted to check that it was actually what the display said it was.

I would say no, looks wrong on the crank end as it would not sit on a crank like V engines.

I am sure the Hercules also had a ring below the small end as well as 3 above possibly 4

I would say it from a normal inline engine
