Peter. Although I was there and watched the whole thing I have no idea who the lucky bidder was ? he was a youngish man early 30’s maybe (but at my age almost everyone looks young !) :diablo:

Keith.

Could that be a Mr.Elliott Smock???

Well I paid less for my control column, but at the time (2003)I thought it was a steep price, it still is the most expensive part I bought for the cockpit project. But as I thought there wouldn’t be a second chance (figures) I did it and never had any regrets about it.

So, was £1300 + commission a ‘give away’ for this?

Runway06. The auction is not untill tomorrow 4th Dec.
I had a quick look around at the viewing today …. made a few comments for myself on some of the aviation related items, although I must stress I know nothing about this subject, only what I have learned from you wise people following a few years reading almost everything on this, and other, forum.
Only two items stood out for me ….. The Halifax Column …. looked straight and genuine ??? (how would I know) 🙂

And Lot 1159. WW11 Canadian pilots log book + paperwork + photo albumn + cap …. this is expensive ? but would make a very good study.

Also Lot 1068. nav light from a proctor etc etc ….. only because the light fitting has some readable numbers stamped on it ??? ( sad )

I will be there tomorrow, weather etc allowing, if things are at ‘give away’ prices I may be tempted ?????

Figures, spending years making one complete using parts from various sources and now a complete one just turns op.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the value goes up a long way from that.

Happy bidding:cool:

Guide prices

Yes the guide price is cheap – if you look, so are most of them in the catalogue – my first job was in an auction room and compiling the catalogues was one of my duties. This was standard auction house practise to drum up interest and get bidders to attend the auction – wouldn’t have thought it was quite so important now these things are on the net as well – But it certainly seems to still work! :diablo:
