Hi
I seek opinions on the colour of the top escape hatch operating bars. On most models they are depicted as external glazing frames, they actually run under the glass and open the hatch. In many pics of restored lancs items such as these and safety rails are shown as yellow. Don’t know which to pick between
yellow
Aluminium
external colour
Combination of above
Here are a couple of pics of latest progress

scratchbuilt?
WOW!
Is it for your own personal collection, or is it going on display in a museum?

I was going to suggest you send an e-mail to an owner of one.

Hi
Thanks Cees
I have gone with the following
Interior framework/ sides – natural aluminium
hatch release handle – yellow
under glass crossbar (top) – exterior camouflage colour
Under glass crossbar (underside) – natural aluminium
Paint drying now . Post a pic of result later maybe.
Cheers

Isn’t it always the the thing that happens? 😀 Still as I recall one answer you got over at HS suggested yellow (stands out inf the dark). One thing – I don’t think they’d be is red – that colour disappears completely in the dark.
Of course you could always hinge the escape hatch then when the real answer emerges you could repaint it. 😉
Just spotted this thread,
Phil, use yellow, at least that colour is quoted in the drawings I have of the pilot’s escape hatch.
Cheers

Hi
I’ll give it a few more hours before I take the plunge and choose what will inevitably the wrong colour 🙂

What kit is that built from? Superb model.
I think you’ll find that its scratchbuilt. He’s been working on it for some time now.

Everytime I see pictures of that work of art you are creating, I am overwhelmed.
That is modelling at its finest.
