A neighbour, Tony Nijhuis, is the builder of large-scale flying model aircraft. (VERY large!)
Currently he is building a model of HX272 “Nielsen’s Nuthouse” and the only reference he has is this model hanging at East Kirkby.
Does anyone know of any photogrpahs of the actual aircraft, especially the nose art. Or this an accurate representation?
Apologies for the image quality. It is all that I have been given.

Don’t quote me on this but I seem to recall a framed photograph on the wall of the cafeteria at East Kirkby showing the Panton’s older brother standing beneath the nose of the Halifax and the nose art is clearly shown.
It’s a while sice I last had time to browse in there as I usually visit on taxying days and its always crowded, so my memory may be at fault.

Kev
Many thanks for this!
I should, however, have added that the model is being built with the knowledge of the Panton brothers and will be flown at East Kirkby. I know that Tony has been in touch with them, but the only “reference” seems to be the model hanging in the roof. I gather from Tony that although helpful the brothers are a little vague or not forthcoming in respect of the provision of any other photographic references – if they even exist! He felt that the model displayed at East Kirkby might well be a “guess” in terms of the nose artwork and wants to exhaust the possibility of photos being extant before going with/copying the same scheme shown on the East Kirkby model.

I can confirm the codes were BM-N. Perhaps it might be useful to ring the Panton Brothers at east Kirkby as their brother was killed in this aircraft. They may have better images of the nose art.

Thanks, AM!
If anyone can confirm this is correct then it will give Tony somewhere to look.
I might be wrong, but my recall was seeing a photo of P/O Panton standing by the rear turret or fins….but it could be false memory syndrome.
I hope you are right, AM!
I’ve certainly seen the picture of P/O Panton standing beside a Halifax tail Andy, you’re not imagining things!

Checked the Nose Art reference books and no photo is published in these.
