Halifax parts to be shipped to Canada (loads of them)

IMPORTANT – Halifax 57 Rescue Update (April 8, 2010) –
Halifax 57 Rescue Project Manager Karl Kjarsgaard has just reported from Europe of good progress in the preparation of 12+ tons of Halifax airframe parts for shipping to Canada. This promises to be a great addition to the Bomber Command Museum of Canada and our Halifax project.

Although the funding for the acquisition of the parts and shipping was planned (and has been covered), this was based on just one shipping container being used. However, we’ve found that there are so many parts of unusual dimensions that we will need two containers. This will require a extra $12,000-$14,000 in shipping costs. All our parts are secure and protected in a safe warehouse close to the shipping container facility.

Halifax 57 Rescue (Canada) has done a diligent job in locating these rare and vital Halifax parts and are now asking, in partnership with the Bomber Command Museum of Canada, for donations and financial backing to help pay for the shipping of these unique parts back to Canada. These doantions are required by the end of May. Please contact Halifax 57 Rescue or our museum with your donations to assist with this “Halifax parts rescue” for the Nanton museum collection.

So whatever happens let’s get another Halifax on it’s feet in Canada.
