Halifax RAAF aircrew mystery

http://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/10529005.Wartime_picture_quest_makes_friends_of_former_foes/

a tantalising story !

a cursory glance through the relevant Chorley ‘Losses’ for 1944 & 1945 of 462 sq and 466 sq losses where crews survived to become POW suggest they could have been flying LL610 or MZ401 – both shot down 2/3 Nov 44 ops Dusseldorf , or NP972 22/23 Dec 44 ops Bingen

i’ll follow any developments on this story !

The crew were in 466 Squadron Halifax III NP975 HD-H lost 22nd December 1944, Pilot R F Feilberg killed and buried in Hotton War Cemetery, remainder of the crew captured to become P.o.W.’s.
Shot down by Richard Launer who passed away in 1997. Some relatives of the crew visited the crash site for NP975 in May this year and as the story says visited the wife/family of Richard Launer.
