Halifax repaint and Bomber Reunion

Im surprised that no one has mentioned this yet, if they have, my apologies. Flypast currently has a picture of the Elvington Halifax in its’ new French Markings. Has anyone any pictures to share of this? From the small picture in Flypast, it seems to have done wonders for the external appearance of the Halifax, the finish seems similar to the satin finish on PA474.

Lancman, a trip from Wales to see your favourite aeroplane may be in order!

ps- anyone know if the Lanc, Halifax and Sally B will be parked outside together this year at Elvington. I’d heard this was the plan as they did some years ago.

Yes,only two though.Apart from the work being done at the front, a man was painting D-Day stripes around the rear fuselage. It`s very hard to get good pictures because it`s so dark and the `planes are rather squashed in at one end.

Thanks for the pics!

Did you get any photos of HJ711 – Tony Agar’s Mosquito NF.II? I really need to get up there to see how he’s getting on.

Well, I’d already got Elvington down for a visit this year anyway, but that absolutely seals it. Lancaster, Halifax and B17 all parked outside together is a sight I never thought I’d ever see, and will be worth the entrance fee alone!

I would imagine JN-4 might also make the trip up for that, and DHFan’s indicated to me that he and Mrs DHFan quite liked the idea of going to Elvington, so it seems we may have a Forum (Northern Section) meet in the making. Any other takers…? 😉

The plan IS to park all three bombers together at Elvington – saw it last time, very poignant…
