For a painting project I am trying to find a good source of images of the varying squadron colours/patterns to be found on Halifax fins. Does anyone know of any good online sources or books?
TIA

Useful site http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/hphalifax/main.htm plus the fin markings were in Aircraft illustrated for Sept 1971 drawn by A. Granger.

Elvington have an information board, normally displayed beneath their Halifax, which depicts the different squadron fin markings. I took a photo of it on my last visit, although the quality wasn’t very good. I’ll try and dig it out tonight and post it on here.
From Hull, Hell and Halifax An Illustrated History of No.4 Group, 1937-48 is an excellent reference book, although all the photographs are b&w.

Google WINGS PALETTE and you should come up with a very good site.
Go to WW2 Bombers and there are a bunch of profiles there.
