Hi everybody
I have a number of Halifax/Whitley propeller blades in varying states of wear.
They formed part of the fencing to our house since the end of the war.
I have established through Rotol propellers Cheltenham that they were made at Airscrew High Wycombe during the war years and bear the reference DB 1140.
Anyone able to confirm this and, if so, interested in acquiring?

Drove past an orchard the other week where they use large fans on poles to keep the frost at bay. One of them was quite clearly a P47 prop..

A metal one has been made but it is in storage right now so no pics unfortunately – I will try to get you some at the next opportunity.

Hi Elliott,
Glad to hear that, so there are at least some drawings at your disposal.
What’s the status about the instrument panel? You had a wooden template ready years ago, any progress on that?
Cheers

Hi Cees
We have a pair of Whitley hubs – but no spinners yet, although I have a full set of drawings for these for when the times arises to make them (I am holding out for as long as possible!).
Wow Elliott,
To find six propblades must be quite a catch. You have the hubs and
spinners too?Cheers

I’d be interested in one for the museum if the price is right!

DB.1140 blades used on…
RS5/25 propellers fitted to the Whitley V and with R7/35/54 or R7/35/56 propellers used on the Halifax II.
The prefix DB identifies them as Weybridge (Airscew Co. Ltd.) blades with an armoured leading edge.

I’ve had six of these off of Tom and can vouch for them. A very surprising find – I never thought i’d find original wooden blades for the Whitley.
The adapters and steel leading edges are not too good, but the blades them selves are in very good condition – the jablo coating has more than done its job.
How about some pics Tom?
