Would anybody have and be prepared to share any images of the inside of the Hercules engine running classroom that used to be at Halton. I’m sure I saw a photos once, years ago, but don’t recall where.
A class could observe an engine start and run inside the hut with large size instruments for all to see.
Thanks, Terry

The Halton Beaufighter classroom features in this interesting short film, along with some other interesting types. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_N6W_wv33o&t=648s

I went to No. 1 School of Technical Training RAF Halton in 1956 as a member of the 84th Entry. Part of our training occurred at the airfield and I well remember the cockpit classroom. I was given the job of operating the hand primer in the wheel bay to start the engine.
Many years later when the aircraft was purchased by Tim Moore he gave me one of the boost gauge dial faces.

I notice neither you or I has a ‘send private message’ link in our ‘avatar’ box on the left ?
When I tried typing in your username in the pm ‘to’ box – your name did not appear to exist on the members list.

I was across the parade square in Invader/Javelin – Jaguar/Meteor/Invader – I was sent back to my own entry (top floor cpl) as a punishment for upsetting the Meteor Block Sgt :).
I am in regular contact with John W who I believe was a Rigger of your parish,JW is still mad on cars and spanners for a small race team.
cheers/regards bazv

Now theres a coincidence young Oracal – I was a Crafty Apprentice at Halton 1970-72,I was a rigger so had nothing much to do with engine runs at that time 🙂

I will bow to any correction from 203 entry, but ISTR being told that the original engines were replaced by units from a Valletta.

There did used to be a couple of pics on the ‘net’ some years ago but the way Google ‘works’ now makes finding anything quite tricky – howz this for starters courtesy of 203 Entry.

Does anyone know why the three bladed props were replaced with four bladed ones?
