DE HAVILLAND MOSQUITO CONFIRMED FOR THE 2013 HAMILTON AIRSHOW
Jerry Yagen (Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach) and Dave Rohrer (Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum) are planning for Jerry Yagen’s newly restored de Havilland Mosquito to attend the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum’s 2013 Hamilton Airshow on June 15 & 16!

The Mosquito’s appearance at the Hamilton Airshow will be the first appearance of this historic aircraft in Canada and it is planned to be part of a special formation flight that will include the Lancaster, Spitfire & Hurricane – an aircraft formation and sight that hasn’t been seen in the skies over Hamilton since 1990.

The rare Mosquito will definitely be the star of the vintage aircraft line-up that will include many rare and unique machines that will be announced in March. Already confirmed as returning to the show are the RCAF Snowbirds and Matt Younkin & his Beech 18. General Admission, Photo Pass and Flightline Club tickets are now on sale.
Please note that the Mosquito will be arriving early to be the subject of a special featured event at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum on Friday June 14th that will include discussions with several former Mosquito pilots including George Stewart who was recently honoured sharing his knowledge and experience to a new generation of Mosquito pilots in New Zealand. Details of this event will be announced closer to the Airshow. The Mosquito will be departing Hamilton on Sunday June 16th at about 10:00 am to appear at a special commitment in Washington D.C.

Which B24 is that? Guessing the old Diamond Lil?

Great news! Hopefully the B-24 stays out of trouble this year. Now, how about the FW-190.
Thanks for the update

1990 Battle of Britain Anniversary, Hamilton, ON Canada
I was lucky enough to attend the 1990 CWHM Airshow and saw the flying formation of the Lancaster, Spitfire, Hurricane and Kermit Weeks’ Mosquito. Vera Lynn was singing a wartime song as the planes flew overhead and drowned her out. Needless to say, the chills up the spine were unstoppable. This next CWHM visit is on my bucket list! This summer, unfortunately, a Focke-Wulf 190 was to perform, but did not attend. However a huge Boeing Superfortress “FIFI” flew alongside the Lancaster and made several passes for photographers as did most of the aircraft. At the end of the show, the Lancaster flew overhead for a good half hour!

Will the Firefly and Lizzie be flying too (what about the Anson, is that in Canada) ?
Oh god, I feel a holiday coming on!

Sounds like a good plan.

Hmmm! The wife has been talking about a possible holiday in Canada next year. She says she always wanted to visit. Me thinks this could be the time to go!
Well its only “just down the road” from Niagara Falls-so you could always tell her you are taking her there -and oh what a coincidence-theres an air show on nearby that weeek end!!

Bit confused about why anyone would want to fly these aircraft over Motherwell and Wishaw.
The photo opportunities of a Mosquito and Chatelherault seem to have been limited.
Now I understand.

This is brilliant news. A new generation of Canadians will be inspired. Happy airshow, all!

Passenger carrying during displays is still a big no-no. And whilst I’m unaware of the exact regulations in Canada, it is illegal to carry paying passengers whilst flying formation in the US.

I wonder if they will be selling flights in the Lancaster that day.. Imagine the photo opportunities!!!

Its going to be an amazing show.
But a tip if you have never been before take plenty of water, Canadian summers are very hot & humid.
We are on the same latitude as Northern Portugal !!
I personally cannot wait.

It’s a must! Great show and what a sight it will be to see the beautiful Mosquito fly with the Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane.

OK, I was joking on WIX when I hinted that using a Canadian C-17 might be an easier way to get it across the Pacific than a USAF one! :diablo:

Just out of interest, I have just had a look at the price of flights. Not to bad actually 🙂
