Hi all,
A new thread to show any progress about the follow up project.
A first pic to show that the project is very much on. I have already
been in contact with IWM and if all goes to plan a drawing index list
will be sent. From this a selection of the needed drawings will be made
to be able to reconstruct the Hampden structure.
Any feedback is appreciated.

Got the latest issue of FlyPast today. The Hampden cockpit was in it, thanks Roger, but to set things
Straight.
The cockpit is not built for the ARG museum, It is located there but is my personal project which the
museum has nothing to do with. As is the Halifax cockpit.
They have been so generous to let me have it built there.

WOW !

I quite agree David – stuningly quick and good work. As the Whitley is being rebuilt using original material it presents very different problems.
Elliott,
The rate that Cees and friend are working through their ww2 bombers, I wouldn’t be surprised that they will have a Whitley and Stirling finished before we do! LOL

Well I leave that up to you chaps,
The Halifax is a full cockpit, the Hampden is more of an extended instrument panel.
Having drawings helps a lot.
After this I will just continue investigating wrecks and the scale model hobby.
Saves a lot of money too.

Nice one Cees – it looks awersome. If only you could build a bit more… 😀

Beautiful piece of work Cees. As an aside, I was born in Hampden Road, Harrow Weald, and my father had his wartime call up deferred because he was building them.

Great work Cees and Lex,
This is a really nice section of a Hampden. I intend for the Meteor F4 panel to be displayed in exactly the same way in about 1yrs time. Mine will be from the cockpit floor to the top of the windscreen.
My second Sea Hornet PR22 instrument panels will be displayed in a similar fasion, but within a wooden “slice” of airframe. When you have limited space, at home or in a museum, its a really good type of display to put together.

Long awaited update time.
The construction is finished, the instrument panel nearly so. The three large holes are for the fuel gauges (made by Rocketeer, thanks Tony). Originals are even more rare than unobtanium. Only instrument needed is the small version of the D/F indicator with bakelite body (with the crossed yellow needles). Haven’t found one. Only the larger with metal bodies turn up on ebay.
Once painting is finished that’s it.
Cees
