See the guys are ready, if not already applying the fabric to the hurri this week. Some really interesting pics on their website of the frame of the hurri.

She looks the bees-knees, interesting to see the transport pics too. Congratulations to all at HRL and Hangar 11, can’t wait to see her airborne! 🙂
Presumably the first few flights will be made minus bombs?

Imagine her with replica 500lb bombs!!
The thought had struck us – maybe next year 🙂

Just wondering, how large a bomb could the Hurribomber carry?
Initilally a pair of GP250LB’s but later (by June 1942) were able to carry 2 x 500LB. The Hangar 11 machine currently sports 250LB replica GP bombs.

Wow she looks awesome! A tribute to those who worked long hours to restore her. Just wondering, how large a bomb could the Hurribomber carry?

WOW !! 😮
Indeed Mark V – nice to see her with the covers on. This Hurricane is imaculate in every way. Certainly a crowd pleaser for 2009.

VERY nice! Those bombs slung under it give it a rather different look!

Well she is pretty much finished, weighed and ready for delivery to her new home.
Now that’s what I call a good present from Santa. 😀
Well done to HRL and Hangar11, can’t wait to see her fly.

Hi Paul, I came across this website whilst searching for more information on the net on my grandfather Charles Bryce Watson. I was wondering if you or any of your members on this forum could give me some more information on the restoration of this Hurricane? I am in Australia and do make it to England a number of times per year with my job so would be great to see it and also give some more info on this project to his family.

I noticed there was a small news piece in the latest Flypast about the Hurricane 🙂 Just one small correction – the scheme is not an RCAF one but represents BE505 of 174 (Mauritius) Squadron, RAF, based at Manston during Spring 1942. There is a bit more detail in earlier posts on this thread.
Update – I now see where the confusion has arisen. By strange coincidence the code letters for 135 (Bulldog) Sqdn RCAF (the unit this aircraft actually served with) and 174 (Mauritius) Sqdn RAF – its current scheme, were both XP in 1942!

Mark et all,
I moved the Airshow posts over into a new thread titled “North Weald Airshow” to keep this thread on topic regarding the Hurricane.

Caution: PT does not like his staff being disturbed while they are working. 😡
Yes you best catch them when there at and about or down the squadron having a quick pint.
There a great group and great to talk to so when there free do stop and say hi. It makes the job more worth while.
Tho do keep in mind it is a private collection but when the times right say hi 🙂
