Interesting paragraph: “Onto specifics, we are now finally stripping the film paint off the P40, didn’t we do well nursing it for a full 3 seasons! I will attach some photos but we have now removed here control surfaces ( rudder, elevator, ailerons) and she is well on to being fully masked for stripping. We hope to have her in bare metal by mid November and ready for paint in January. The new colour scheme is a closely guarded secret, if I told you…. I would have to kill you. What I will say is that she will be painted in unique colour scheme, not seen before since wartime as far as I am aware.”

That would be the Dog’s Danglies of a colour scheme to paint a P-40 in. Come on, Steve, get your masking tape out!

Have to admit that scheme would be a nice one 🙂

The P-40 looks good, although that scheme has been done before. I personally would go fo a 49th FG scheme, if I won the lotto, although a lot of them are a little un-PC these days…:D
The Mk IX from Russia is in remarkable condition, considering what it has been through and it looks like quite a bit of original structure can/will be incorporated into the rebuild. Definitely more than a “data plate special”…:)

This is exactly the scheme I would go for, It includes every nation so no bias.
I remember a diecast model of this being available some years ago too.

a full flying tigers scheme perhaps ???.
Isn’t every second P40 in the States already in that scheme?

A VVS scheme is being planned – but for the Spitfire IX….

Would like to see a Russian scheme as well but I will always be biased.

It certainly would! But I think it would take me about five years to apply all those markings!
I reacon you could find some volounteer helpers for that job 😀

Personally I would like to see it back in the 112 sqn colours it wore when with TFC.

The scheme worn by the book “aircraft camouflage and markings, since 1918” if that’s the title i remember with a P40 with many national markings…
Now that would be a head turner.
