Hangar Queen enquiry.

Back in the early eighties a club house discussion got around to the thorny subject of our so called hanger queen, a Slingsby T21, and what if anything we were going to do about it current deplorable state, this led to various tales of other such airframe thought or known to be dotted around the landscape, One such was that of a Mosquito believed to be stored at RAF Swinderby, still occasionally dragged out and run up, according to the person reciting the tale, I have over the years made a few enquiries about this one but found nothing too substantiate her claims based on current surviving airframes so can only assume it was never there, or was eventually broken up on site and disposed of, she was never specific on the time frame but now feels that the mid sixties was the most probable area, anyone know about this one??

So it did exist or rather does exist though from reading the posts it is not at all apparent if this is an original airframe or one constructed of various parts, anyway nice to see tha at least one of the Finingly collection survived to ths day.

Swinderby Mosquito

I remember seeing this Mossie sat in one of the main hangars while I was at Swinderby undergoing basic training in September / October 1986. We used to run past it most days & it was clearly visible as the hangar doors were usually wide open. It appeared to be in excellent condition & had the access ladder attached. I often thought of nipping across from my block & taking a closer look, but excessive cleaning & boot bulling always got in the way!
