Hanger 11 Hurricane – first taxy run

I was fortunate enough to be invited up to North Weald today to film the first taxy run of Peter Teichman’s glorious Hurricane restoration in the capable hands of Stu Goldspink. You can see my hastily edited video here

High quality video of a good looking aircraft. Hope you’ll be back in a couple of days for the first take off.

The aircraft is apparently due to make its debut at Abingdon Air & Country Show on 3rd May – http://www.abingdonfayre.com/whatson.php

….This particular aircraft is uniquely equipped with a full set of guns in situ and the outer pair, due to the tapering of the wing, have projecting flash eliminators, which are quite promiment.

Is the arrangement asymetric as I can see two projections on the starboard outer part of the wing but only one on the port side?

Absolutely lovely machine – a fantastic machine. Can’t wait to see her at Abingdon (subject to all the ususal provisos)

Thanks for sharing the video.

It does raise the question is the gun layout particular to this mark?

Its particular to the Hurricane IIB in fighter-bomber configuration. Basically, in its original (early 1942) form, they used the 12-gun wing layout, but due to the location of the bomb carrier fairing shrouds (masking the spent cartridge ejector port for one of the main group of four guns) the complement was reduced to ten guns in total. This particular aircraft is uniquely equipped with a full set of guns in situ and the outer pair, due to the tapering of the wing, have projecting flash eliminators, which are quite promiment.

Looks, frankly, bloody marvellous!

Don’t care that it was “hastily edited” – it’s not every day you get to witness something like this happening! Thanks for posting! 🙂

Cant wait to see that one in the air! Congrats to all involved.
It does raise the question is the gun layout perticular to this mark?
