Anybody had the opportunity to visit an airlines hanger? I have been round the Monarch and FLS hangers at Manchester, an experience I will never forget especially being sat in the left hand seat of an A320 with full electrical power connected and all cockpit in full action.

I drove under a 747-200 of Hydro Cargo at Brussels. Then I also passed past the Melsbroek airbase (Air Force) And saw an ERJ135 and the two A310s. There was also a 727 of DHL taking off when we were driving over a taxiway (north of the airport, rarely used) parallel with 25R.
sorry rekkof

worked in hanger 11 at schipol holland [KLM] about 28 years ago,
and again in hanger 14 about 7 years ago, working on 747s this was just after FOKKER AIRCRAFT went bankrupt and i was looking for work. it was nice to see the interior all taken out of a 747 the size is unbelievable, and to work on the tail when its on jacks woo.

I have been in the FLS hangar at Stnatsed where my dad works fairly recently. I watched ‘undercarriage swings’ on an Aegean 737-400, which was on jacks. Also got to sit in several Easyjet 737’s, wonder in and around all the planes looking at the engines and flaps and everything, and also speant about 20 minutes in the cockpit of an Excel 737-800.

10 years back in one of the large KLM hangars. It then housed a KLM 747 which was going through heavy maintenance and the El Al 747 that crashed a year later in Amsterdam.
I was just a kid then, I can’t remember most of it but some things are still like yesterday. Seeing my granddad stand next to the gear of an the 747 being smaller then the wheel. The completely stripped cockpit with two technicians lying where normally the captains foot would be. Had a great day!
