Who on earth is making him out to be a saint? He was a hard-living, hard-drinking scouser with a lot of talent who got lucky. He was a role model to the rest of us ‘lads’ in 1960s Liverpool, but beatification was never on the agenda.

Thirty years on since his passing I wonder what on earth he would make of todays world. I’m pretty sure he would have been slung out of the states soon after the 1st Gulf war started, he was not one for keeping quiet about his beliefs, and quite rightly so. :diablo:
Right that he mouthed off or right that he would have been slung out? Or both?;) Would he have carried on rocking, taken on a political mantle ( or both ) or just faded into history or lived a less musical more visual art inspired life with Yoko?
On some I suppose he made more of an impact but for me he simply wrote a few good tunes – as did many others.

A talented guy, but not without quirks, demons, and general nastiness.
Hardly the saint he’s made out to be.
Having said that, there would not have been a Beatles without him, and he was the deeper of the Lennon-McCartney duo.
