Happy Birthday 747

The first test flight of the Boeing 747 took place today back in 1969.
Just thought I’d remind you 😉

I flew on TWA’s classic -100’s back in the 70’s and 80’s as a youngster. Those were the days.

The modified wings and new engines should give it a newer look and will make it recogniseable from the other versions of 747.

Though on the whole, the design is practically the same as the 400.

Cant wait to see the -8!

It probably won’t look much different to the 400 apart from a slight stretch

The 747, in any variant, will always remain one of my favorites of all time. I will remember my first flight on one as most memorable. If I remember correctly, it was a board a UTA 743 to Sydney from Paris. Long flight but who cared at the time, I was ten and the seat was more than roomy for me!
Long live the 747! 🙂

That airframe design has stood the test of time when you consider it’s still in production

Something a lot of people forget (not necessarily on this forum) when accusing the 747 if being dead and buried.

The progress over the last 37 years appears insignificant when you compare it to the achievements of the previous 37 years!
