Harrier

Hi guys.
The recent discussion about the Harrier brought me to the urgent realisation that my aviation bookshelf featured not one book about the Harrier. At about this time I received the 5 Pound World Airpower Journal offer and the regular Midland Counties catalogue. It came down to choosing between 2 WAPJ back issues or Midlands´ “Harrier-The vertical reality” by Roy Braybrook.
Roy Braybrook is, in my humble opinion, one of the best aviation authors around(I like Bill Gunston as well) so it was no contest and at 7 Pounds well worth it.
The book is published by the RAF Benevolent Fund. The chapters include the accounts of some test pilots and those closely associated with the Harrier and AV8 programs. Lots of good info, telling the good and not so good, and very little flag waving compared to some other authors.
Buy it.

The fuselage jacking gear for the all metal Harriers would be similar (although the connecting bars between the 2 large fuselage trestles would prob be longer for an FA2).

The Jacking equip for the plastic pigs (GR5/7 etc) is completely different to the all metal harriers.

Hi All,
Silly idea really:- But have you tried the Navy as they still operate Sea Harriers in ground running operation training deck handlers, I assume they may
have some kit knocking around that may help ? That is unless it was a different set up compared to the RAF’s Harriers ?

RE: Harrier

I didn’t see it, but a friend recorded it… I think I’ll have to watch it!
