i’m told final price was just shy of £10K. Not sure if that included all the fee’s and other £££ they like to add.

The price had hit the £8000 mark before the auction ended. May have even gone a bit higher.

I always assumed this was owned by the same people as the two Shar’s that have been sat outside for some years? However it says its a MoD auction, so what have the FAA been using it for for the last 6 years? I would have also thought a GR3 cockpit was pretty useless as a SHAR/GR9 procedure trainer?

It was used by the fire section, with a suitably weighted dummy pilot to extract. And trust me… he was heavy !!!

I’m surprised nobody has pointed out this is an early development batch aircraft, originally known as the P1127(RAF) before being named Harrier…

I don’t think you will get a better Harrier project than that, the parts may be tatty, but they are there, some of that stuff is near impossible to find, which is why I woul dnever consider taking on a GR3 Harrier project.

As an aside does anyone know exactly why Harrier GR3 cockpit stuff is so rare ?, I always assumed it might be to do with the change of disposal methods in the 90’s using that company Military Aircraft Spares

A lot of the interior is there but looks very corroded and decayed to me, in addition the patches on the Perspex will need a lot of work.

Yes its the same. It’s been at Yeovilton sat outside for years, I was posted there in 2006 and it was sat outside then.

It looks a pretty good basis to start from, seen a lot worse, and it comes ready mounted on a trailer.

Isn’t this XV280, recently been outside at Yeovilton?
