Recently I had a sudden spark of interest in the RAF’s upcoming GR.9/T.12 update to the Harrier GR.7/T.10 fleet. I was wondering if anyone with good knowledge on the Harrier could help me in figuring out every single type of store that is/will be cleared for carriage by the new Harrier models. I know that the two primary new weapons are Storm Shadow and Brimstone, and I also recently heard that the AIM-132 ASRAAM integration has been abandoned. My question on that is why? First the decision to scrap the Sea Harrier F/A.2 fleet early, and of coures who can forget the decision to delete the gun in the Eurofighter Typhoon. What is wrong with the MOD these days?
Anyway, can anyone help me in figuring out not only the types of stores carried, but how many can be carried on each hardpoints and I obviously which hardpoints these various types of stores are carried. A huge issue with me is AAM carriage. I can’t figure out where exactly AAM’s can be carried on the Harrier/AV-8B Harrier….i.e…. besides the outboard and dedicated AAM pylons in the case of the RAF Harriers. What about the mid-wing and inboard pylons?
I know it’s a lot, but there are so many knowledgable people here that surely we can figure it out.
