With the withdrawl of the Sea Harrier I was wondering what is the air to air capability of the GR7/9. I understand that it can carry short range air to air missiles but what is the radar like? The route of the question is could the GR7/9 offer any protection to a RN fleet? If so how would it compare against the Sea Harrier FRS1?
Also can anyone conform if the RN carriers still carry the AEW version of the Sea King? If so could it’s radar be networked with a T45 to provide long range protection against low level aircraft or missiles?
Many questions in one, I’m just wondering exactly by how much the withdrawl of the Sea Harrier would affect a fleets chances with a new Falklands war before the CVF and JSF come on line.
