Ok…. as the last thread with this title was hijacked by someone with a personal grudge, i’ll start again….
With thanks to forumites Tony & Gary (aka Rocketeer & geedee) i have the utmost pleasure in acquiring Harrier GR.1/3 XV806 cockpit, which i’m sure is still fresh in the memory of this years Cockpitfester’s.
This will be my third Harrier ‘pit with Gary’s plan of leaving it exposed continuing. As some of you know, i have a particular affinity with ‘arriers having worked on them so it will certainly receive some tlc. Due to the scarcity of parts and as you can see from the photo’s, i’m on the lookout for pretty much everything.
Additional thanks go to Ritch & Max for a pair of side windscreen’s already, so especially urgent at present is the central perspex, glazing retaining strips, windscreen wiper assembly and the motor ‘hump’ panel to complete that area first.
Cheers……..

I have three, but still after a SHAR.
That’s good news Dave, is it another GR.1/3 or a later type?

Looking for any Harrier II parts now please. Anybody ?
Cottesmore next month? :dev2: And I’m sure there will be a carrier to park it on as well for the right price.
Do keep us updated though on progress.

XM692.
The foam pad just below the HUD probably needs replacement.
Hi KN, there was a guy at cockpitfest selling a box (10 or so) of those pads, got one for my ‘arrier, but don’t know his name or company etc.

Two previous posters have said how strange it is to see the cockpit again-it’s the same for me thinking of how many times I sat in there doing Tie-downs,pressurization checks etc,Max bleed wet accels were always fun!:)

XM692.
Great cockpit restoration. We are in the process of cleaning XV752’s cockpit up. The foam pad just below the HUD probably needs replacement. I notice from your pictures you have one in remarkably good condition. Was this somthing you had manufcatured yourself or a genuine spare? Any info on how we can manufacture or obtain a new one would be appreciated.

Dave the in service look is best as you get that old plane smell along with it..

Your Oxygen Tap/valve was posted tonight. Like Steve I must have worked on this one too.

found some bits for harrier II, are your winscreen to canopy hooks fitted as i’ve a left hand mounting assembly for one, possibly i can get the hook assemblies too

It’ll never win an award, but that’s not the intention. I prefer the ‘in service’ look as opposed to the ‘eat ya dinner off it’ glossy approach.
Reasonably happy enough to show it now though, first outing will be Bournemouths cockpit event in September, for which i’ll probably be taking two ‘arriers.

Dave,
Keep up the good work on your Harrier. It really looks the business.
To think, that only 2 years ago it was a skeletal frame, and through your perseverance, you have turned it into a well kitted out, yet sympathetically configured display.
Can’t wait to see it.
