Hi – I’m posting this here because you never know your luck!
I recently became aware that an album of photographs from Harry Hawker’s failed transatlantic flight in 1919 exists; my family has always been quite proud that an ancestor was the engineer for the flight (even if it was the engine which gave out…), and from the description in the catalogue when the album was sold in 2012 it definitely contains a picture of him. The last sighting of this album was when it was sold in Nottingham in 2013; unfortunately the auctioneer has retired since so there’s no chance of getting further information.
This is therefore just a general appeal, since it may have been picked up by a historic aviation enthusiast. If you ever come across it, or a friend ever mentions they have it, please bear in mind that I will happily pay the owner whatever they originally bought it for, just for the chance to copy the relevant pictures inside it and return it to them.
It’s Lot 104 in this catalogue (from its 2012 sale): https://issuu.com/jammdesign/docs/dw_23_24.05.2012_highres
Many thanks.

Oh well, but it was worth the try.

I took your advice and contacted the retired auctioneer – it turns out that he finally disposed of his paperwork for 2013 a week before I became aware of the album!! Frustratingly, there are no records remaining.
But it was a good suggestion and nearly worked!

There is a Margaret Vennett-Smith who, as recently as 2017, was trading as Margaret’s Collectables from the same address, 11 Nottingham Road, Gotham, as was the auction house of T.Vennett-Smith. Thus it seems not improbable that she is related to Trevor Vennett-Smith. On the internet her telephone number is given as 0115 983 0541. In 2017, in an eBay advertisement, she gave her telephone number as 0770 3598 492 and her e-mail address as margaretscollectables@yahoo.com. If she is related to the auctioneer who sold the photo album in 2013, she may be able to put you in touch with the auctioneer who may, or may not, be able and willing to give you a lead to the person who bought the album.
As to Trevor Vennett-Smith, he now seems to be connected to Anwyn Collectibles [sic] Ltd., whose registered office is at 11 High Street, Ruddington, Nottingham NG11 6DT. That business also seems to be trading on eBay at present and can be contacted through that medium (see https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/Anwyn-Collectibles?LH_BIN=1). I’ve not found a telephone number or e-mail address for this business.

Vennett Smith – Feb 2013. No longer trading (and it was a while ago anyway); I haven’t found evidence of an auction since.

Are you saying that the album was sold twice, in quick succession, by Dominic Winter in 2012 and then by a Nottingham auction house in 2013? If so, what is the identity of the latter auction house?
