I have looked around the internet and on the Lufthansa website and can only find that there long haul aircraft have IFE, although it says it is on most routes. Can anyone help?

Frontier’s A319s and A318s are being equipped with PTVs

In any case, on many short haul flights there often isn’t time to show a film so airlines simply won’t bother going to the expense of installing the necessary equipment. Even if an aircraft does have drop down screens, the best you can usually hope for is ‘Airshow’ information (e.g. altitude, speed, outside temp, flying time remaining etc) (BA A319/320) or some cartoon/comedy type thing (e.g. Malev 737NG).

I’ve been on a LH A321 and can confirm they don’t have IFE.
I was about to offer confirmation on this, but Speedbird beat me to it. LH DO NOT have TV’s inside their short-haul fleet, this includes the A310’s and A300-600’s. To be honest with you, on a flight shorter than 3 hours, I really don’t care about in-flight entertainment. I keep myself entertained by reading or sleeping, preferably the latter, no matter what time of day it is.
I’ve been on A319/320/321’s of Mexicana, America West, and British Midland, that had no IFE either. I don’t recall if Austrian did, or not. United, USAirways, and Air Canada all have IFE in theirs. Not the PTV variety of Jetblue, but a drop down screen which is more than sufficient.

I’ve been on a LH A321 and can confirm they don’t have IFE. BA has drop down LCD screens, but LH has nothing.
Don’t expect IFE from LH. Even on L-H it is pathetic.
Some Germanwings A32x have it
JetBlue has, too.

IFE on A320s is not impossible. I got a brochure of VBird in which it states that they will introduce fleet-wide IFE by februari 2004. Not that I noticed it during my two trips in march, but that’s another matter. They do show a picture of a cabin with IFE in each seat.

Bhoy have you never seen Jetblue planes they have IFE in each seat.Lufthansa now have a reputation for very bad IFE on long haul flight so anything that they may have on th A321 wouldnt be much good.If they had it on the A321 wouldnt they have it on the 319/320.

Lufthansa are appalling for IFE. They still have not got round to installing PTVs on their long haul fleet, not even A346s I believe!
The only airline I can think of with A320/321s that offer IFE is BMed out of LHR.

I very much doubt it. I have yet to see an A320 family aircraft with anything other than the LCD screens that come down from the ceiling, and, while Swissair/Swiss did/do use them to show cartoons, the seats don’t have headphone jacks, so there’s not much point in looking forward to IFE on them…
