Have you ever.????

I went into my shed today to get a tool I knew I had, and wanted to use, but couldn’t find it. After a while I realised I had thrown it away as I thought I would never need it again, or that it would now be worth a mint?.

Have you ever thrown something away then wished you hadn’t?.
(It was a wood chisel), BTW.

Jim.

OK, last night I went for a beer. 11pm until 12:30 only. I was driving today so I stayed relatively sober. (Before you ask!)
This morning, I went to do my Washing machine load……and there was no sign of last nights Socks. Nowhere in my apartment, at all.
It has puzzled me all day, and I still can’t find them.
It is usually the washing machine itself which takes the socks into a parallel universe, but they never even got the chance!

My β€˜top tip’ for defrosting a fridge/freezer is to lay it over backwards with the top balanced on something and then pour boiling water over the ice; if you do it right the water stays inside it and it doesn’t flood the kitchen! πŸ˜‰

Defrost the freezer………………hammer!

I just hammer the cr@p out of my freezer.

Upside, ……..spectacular icy explosions, quick, no water.

Downside,….. not so accurate these days so odd blemish appearing inside fridge:rolleyes:

Old photographs.
Everything else I’ve binned can be replaced (With money).
Oh, and I’ve probably thrown away certain segments of my life.

hair dryer is a bit iffy Jim, if you had a lot of hair you could end up like Tina Turner in a wind tunnel. Drip drip drip ZAP

.

he probably had that hair style at least once in his life….self stylings and all that πŸ™‚ Jim im sure you could use one of those salon hair dryers for your freezer, the ones you carry in your mobile salon?

But to answer Jims point, yes all the time. It is a case of the longer you have had it as soon as you junk it it will be needed in short order

Hi PeeDee. I know what you mean, but the problem was that my wife wanted it doing, “Yesterday” as usual with women, and the freezer was full of food, hence speed was of the essence to get it done prior to the food unfreezing, otherwise it could have waited, well, thats my excuse:D

As for the Freezer, hair dryer is a bit iffy Jim, if you had a lot of hair you could end up like Tina Turner in a wind tunnel. Drip drip drip ZAP

I have always used the steam wallpaper stripper, obviously with the electric bits well away (The tube from the boily bit to the steam head is 2.5 metres so it’s not hard). It takes minutes to create enough heat that the frost monsters fall off in big lumps.
Apart from the bit of ice in the drain plug, that takes a few cups of boiling water.

A dremel I had when I was a kid, then I realised a few years later that they are quite useful and went and got another one.

@Paul
Agreed!

@Lincoln 7
Slow and gentle is usually the best way to go when applying heat to things, especially valuable thing like a freezer πŸ™‚ For future reference, just open the freezer with it switched off over a container and leave it for the day, it will defrost itself 😎

Not so much thrown stuff away, but I have sent stuff away in charity shop bags and then regretted it. They’re usually books which I thought I wouldn’t read again, then one day I decide I want them and most of the time they’re no longer available. That happened to me quite recently – got rid of a good book (which was also quite a thick one) to make room for some other books and when I decided I wanted the book again I couldn’t get hold of a copy!

Emptied out the deleted items box of my work computer and then found that I’d also lost a presentation it took me nearly two days to put together.
Had to work at home over the weekend to try and recreate something similar for a presentation on the Monday. How dumb was that?

Paul, I am pleased to also be a member of the “How NOT to de frost a fridge brigade” I used my wifes hairdryer to do ours, and it heated the plastic liner of the fridge so badly, I had to buy another fridge,as the liner had buckled.
Is it just a BLOKES thing?, I am an eclectic collector, and hoarder, just like C.D. I stuff things away for that inevitable day when I “MAY” just want it, but when the time comes to use an item thats been stached away, I cant remember where I put it, a bit like Anna, and the ipod.

The Government threw a lot of fine aircraft away and I wish they hadn’t!

But to answer Jims point, yes all the time. It is a case of the longer you have had it as soon as you junk it it will be needed in short order.

Today was a classic example. Last month I threw away a dozen or so kettle leads leaving myself with one. I needed to defrost the freezer today and I use a wallpaper stripper for this(They tell you don’t do this but I tend not to recognise the word “don’t”)
The kettle lead for this needs a cut out so that it fits the socket on the steamer. Yes you guessed it. I spent half an hour filing a slot into the lead and cutting away the rubber surround so that I could jam it all together.

Any white star liner can sail past my kitchen in perfect safety now and my wife can knock that job of the ever growing list to keep me entertained!!!!!!!

that’s an attack of sod’s law Deano! I firmly believe in not throwing anything vaguely useful away after a spate of throwing MG spares out. Then needing to buy said spares. Even more embarrassing was the time I sold a stash of parts from MG’s I’d scrapped, you know the sort of parts you know you’ll never ever need, that have been gathering dust in the garage since Methuselah was a lad? Then the week later having to go buy a couple back…
