Have you ever stuffed up on the forum?

Geforce has been complaining that the forum is in need of serious invigouration. Thinking of subjects that we can all speak about isn’t always easy, but there is something that we might all have in common.

Have you ever posted something on the forum that you regretted later on?

I have and I can start the ball rolling.

A couple of weeks ago, in a post I launched, I said that the forum had become too cluttered with issues of minor or local interest only (such as best potato chips – sorry A330etc). I was scolded lightly by a fellow antipodean about feeling left out because the issues were not relevant to my side of the world.

I responded by saying that it was difficult to involve myself in such discussions, as they were not relevant to Australia and little happened over here to bring to the forum to generate large scale discussion.

I now regret that remark. I regret it because of Bali. Because of the actions of an unkown enemy, Australia now finds itself the greatest victim of a crime beyond our imagination and the subject of much discussion on the forum.

Have any of the rest of you ever posted something which has backfired on you later?

Regards

Wombat

Oh yeah, I’ve messed up on here!! I guess everyone does… occasionally!!! Whatever the topic, I find that there’s always someone who knows it better than me!! But, I learn from my mistakes!!

RE: Have you ever stuffed up on the forum?

Yeah, I learnt about forums from that!

A few weeks ago I recieved an email about a virus that hid itself in a commonly used windows file and which would activate blah blah so on and so forth….

Up goes the post from me warning everyone, only to find out it’s a hoax virus alert. Being new to the net, it was the first time I had heard of one of these ‘hoax’ virus alerts.

Boy did I feel stupid when I realised my mistake. It’s taught me not to take stuff too literally sometimes.

I still think though that we’re all flexible enough to bend when someone cocks up or goes on a rant. I find on the Flypast Forum they are a great bunch of like-minded enthusiasts. It’s the nearest I’ll get to doing what football mates do when in a crowd – enjoying the company of so many who share your passion and who otherwise would not get to know each other….

…I refuse to answer the question on the grounds that I might incriminate myself.

RE: Have you ever stuffed up on the forum?

I have not posted anything that I have later on regretted. I can only think of a few times when I’ve not explained something thorough enough and have got my posting rather complicated. Other than that I cannot think of a time when I’ve regretted posting.
I think that other members are rather sympathetic and understand that we all make mistakes occasionally and they except that.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 21-10-02 AT 11:32 AM (GMT)]Er!! No I don’t think I do regret anything I’ve put on this forum, most of what I’ve contributed is generally lighthearted, but the more serious comments I feel strongly about and I dont feel that I have to retract anything that I put on here(although I wouldn’t deliberately be offensive to anybody).

Somebody called the forum a virtual community some time back, I’m now calling it a virtual democracy.

So lets keep talking, no matter how trivial the subject or how profound

sober at last

Where should we begin. No, really, I don`t regret what I`ve said in the past, but my opinions have been somewhat simplistic and naieve. Especially regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

RE: Have you ever stuffed up on the forum?

Some of the posts that i have done on the GD forum i regret cos they are a litlle bit stupid, I admit. But its hard to know really what to talk about other than aviation, which I know we all love on here.

But its also the fact that the is a massive age range within the forums to, and its hard to know what people like. So therefore thats why I ask the questions, for future reference, so I know what people are interested in.

Hope you understood this ok? 😛

Thanx.
