have you ever wanted to fly a jet provost?

its quite possible that you can get the next best thing to the real thing with the simulator x-plane. below are two screenshots of my latest design for this simulator, a provost mk2!

if you havnt tried this sim and you want a sim that is not an abomination of physics(a certain microsoft product series) and your happy with the fact that in effect you could make any aircraft the world has ever seen, then x-plane is for you!

if there is anyone out there who sees this and who flies/know someone who does it would be great to get some of the ‘book’ performance and parameter data, as I am going by general books and the internet…so weights/fuel capacities(in lbs or kg’s)performance envelope/flap settings etc

even better download the demo(which is the whole program minus the code to make it run past six minutes at a time)and email me to have a go yourself, am doing the scheme soon, and the panel, anyone got any schemes they would like to see? am thinking silver with yellow training stripes for one at least!

X-Plane is a marvellous simulator and well worth a look. Plus, you can buy add-on scenery that includes the *whole planet* on 4 CDs! Not bad it is, either. And you can make your own etc.

Flying on Mars, anyone? Landing the Shuttle? Rocketing into the stratosphere in an anime machine? All can be done here 🙂

If there was ever a small jet I’d love to take for a spin it would have to be Cessna’s ubiquitous T-37 Tweet.

Small, agile, great view, what more can you ask for?

many many moons ago at a place called Church Fenton a 15 year old air cadet got a ride in a jp t5/3. Sitting in the left hand side he managed to get the engine going. Then started taxiing towards the runway and somehow managed to get airborne with maybe a wobble or two. Giving the passenger (12 year old air cadet)a go on the stick they managed flying fairly well until the landing. On final approach they flew a fairly good aproach until they were about twenty feet of the ground then things went drasticaly wrong. pulling the stick back with the thrittle closed the jp struck the ground tail first and made a horribe mess. With shaking leggs and a slight addrenaline rush they climbed out of the simulator with a story to tell.

That was my best day on camp at Church Fenton

Actually, anybody who’s ever flown in a Falke motor glider would feel very much at home on that wooden bench ! It’s identical !!

Or am I the only one to admit to sitting in that thing and wiggling the stick about a bit?! 😀

Guilty, my son too! Bit tight if you’re 6’2″.

I wasn’t sure about the wooden bench seat though. I suppose you could class it as park(bench) flying? 🙂
