Hawk arrived at DX?

There was a crate on the back of a lorry and a crane outside TFC’s hangar this morning…

Hi Guys

It probably is amusing to the TFC to have the crate there and have everyone guessing – they probably enjoy the sport as much as you do – you don’t think they read this forum – think again – just imagine what goes on in the tea room conversations.

Regards
John P

Its all in good fun and i can imagine the grins on faces of TFC gang.

By the way – despite my facetious comments, well done to all at TFC – you have kept a terrific collection, and the warbirds scene in Britain has undeniably been hugely improved by your efforts. I’m just sorry that I’m not going to be in Britain to see the latest additions to your collection.

I can understand why you get frustrated when your every move is monitored by hundreds or thousands of people. I know that in my experience in restoration, the inane questions get tiring.

If you shut an aircraft in a box, and you don’t look inside the box, is the aircraft is in a superposition of being both dead and alive?

Or does that only work with PBYs and Grumman fighters?

I do really think that is bad form as I don’t believe any body at TFC would in the slightest way get pissed off with anybody who might be from this jolly little knowlegable forum well no deffinately not hush my mouth and suck my thumb etc etc can’t blame them really if they did so lets just wait and see eh. 🙂 🙂

Enjoy whats coming out of the containers we are very lucky people in this country to be able to not only see up close Warbirds but also see them still flying so show some respect and patience to the TFC staff as they read this site and see the comments that are on it, and lets face it for what ever reason TFC do seem to be on the recieving end of some crap from this forum, how about some paise because without TFC you would have very little variety in the Warbirds and the Legends show.

Yes,. let’s praise the TFC guys but also let’s retain a sense of humour?

This particular thread is like s*x – the foreplay is as enjoyable as the act itself – ooooooooooooh the anticipation!!!!

Roger Smith.

Stewart 1a why dont you wait until the contents of the crates are together rather than be silly about it, this forum has some very knowledgable people on it but it also has its fair share of muppets which sadly let it down from time to time.

actually they may just cut holes in the crats and fly them like that. the crates have been there for most of the week an the TFC have been very unhelpful. then again the airfield has been busy this week.

Whereupon he and the chosen ones will consume vast quantities of coffee and stale cake and sandwiches and vote for the title of “Sacred slagger”.

Will it be raining ? 😀

TBYGUY

Ask Melvyn, he is the project director for the Stirling now he has completed the Rewind Clobbermiester and it has been taken on charge as the new NATO deterent.

Melve will soon be moving a convoy of containers down to the wee hanger to begin fettling the beast. Prior to the commencement however there will be a two week ceremony of acceptance at which time Melve will convene a closed meeting of the inner sanctum of the Clique of honour. Whereupon he and the chosen ones will consume vast quantities of coffee and stale cake and sandwiches and vote for the title of “Sacred slagger”.

After each vote Melve burns a specially treated collegue in the restraunt fireplace and the desciples of Melve watching from outside know if the new slagger has been elected Black for no white for yes. As usual Melve rigs it so he always wins – never have an election if you don’t know the answer.

Melve was supposed to be in Italy this week working as a consultant on a similar process but the Bloody Stirling turned up and he had to phone the advice in – they seem to be doing it OK but as Melve says – Bloody Italians …….what did they ever do for the world.

Anyway that wots in the box and wots appenin to it mates….. and Melve assures me it will be at leg ends ………one year

Kindest regards
John P

I heard that the P&O NedLloyd Mk.4a Type 22 freight container is soon to be either painted grey or retired altogether due to government cutbacks. Rumour has it that DX will be the site of the new CrateSpace(TM) museum. Theses two are possibly the first exhibits to be included in the yet to be built artistic superstructure that will stand 300metres high and 10m wide painted purplewith neon underlighting. The Crates will naturally be suspended from the roof of the building to avoid a small community of travelling folk setting up inside them. It’s all very hush hush ofcourse! Go here to see the development page… www.cratespace.co.uk/development

And, of course, it will be housed in a purpose-built exhibition building totally unsuited for its use built at a cost of £58.50 for the building and the rest of the architect. Unfortunately this will mean there is nothing to spend on the restoration of the crates, some of which will continue to live outside and the rest will have a single coat of white emulsion as the restoration budget has been cut.

There will probably be a statue outside too.
