Following high winds two weeks ago, John Bradshaw re-scheduled his monthly flight in Hawker Fury G-CBEL to today (Sat 14th April) 🙂
Blue skies and a light breeze welcomed me as I arrived at Bournemouth Airport.
There’s nothing better than the sound of a Centaurus (well there is, two Centaurus’!)…
Start-up…
…taxiing out for take-off…

Fury airborne (bloody wind-sock!)

I intended to use the Fury as my main subject for experimenting with different shutter speeds, with the ultimate aim of getting different amounts of prop blur.
Beginning with an image shot using 1/125 second TV mode…
The next two were shot at 1/45 second…

1/30 second shutter speed, using the ‘care and maintenance’ Canon D30 – I can’t believe it!
With the flight done and dusted, the Fury is put to bed…

Huge thanks must of course go to John Bradshaw and to all the crew for making the flight happen today!
Cheers also to Mark for the company during the back-end of the day, and I hope to be able to get back down for CBEL’s next flight.
Feedback welcome on and off board.
Many thanks for looking,
Mark.

Props!
Hey Skyraider, re. your excellent artists renditions: Remember the ‘blurred props’ that are rarely captured on film?
Stringbags pics: Now THAT’S what I’m talking about – brilliant!

This was a similar question to mine, is this an original colour scheme or a unique colour scheme?
It’s a scheme which represents the various countries’ air arms that operated the type, I believe. FAA, RAN, RCN etc….

Am I mistaking, believing that this beautiful beast is bound for France??
I remember to have seen some forum message about G-CEBL being sold to a French airline pilot….
Who knows the answer:confused:

Okay, so who can ID the paint number and manufacturer for the blue coat used on that fuselage? 😎
This was a similar question to mine, is this an original colour scheme or a unique colour scheme? What is the schedule for flying, from the post it would seem to be only once a month? BTW, great photos, thanks!

Lovely pics, SB.
Wouldn’t it be nice to see all three flyable UK Furies together sometime? Not that I’d manage to see it, probably!

These are really nice pictures. What lens did you use for it?
Thanks for the feedback! 🙂
All those that appear before the windsock image were shot using a Sigma 18-50mm lens.
After and including the sock shot, up until the D30-produced image were all taken through a Canon EF 75-300mm USM lens on a Canon D60.
HTH,
Mark
