Just wondering if there are any survivors or remains left, as my son asked me when he came across an article about them. I didn’t think there was anything surviving, but thought I’d ask if anyone knows better. Thanks in advance.

A large section of outer wing from a Henley is on show at Flixton.

Gloster built an awful lot of Hurricanes, yes.

Thanks, that makes sense, though the Henleys that were built came from Glosters, would that have impacted Hurricane production?

The Battle was designed earlier, to P27/32 and was already chosen before the Henley appeared, to P4/34. So they were not direct competitors. However, any more significant production given over to the Henley would have eaten into Hurricane production – not a good idea. For this reason alone, it is rather more surprising that any were built.

Was there a particular reason that the Fairey Battle was chosen as the RAFs light bomber rather than the Henley?
From what I seem to recall reading it was more of a matter of political expediency rather than technical or operational issues.

No it hasn’t! It’s from a Horsley, not a Henley! Not coping well with alliteration this morning. It’s my birthday!
