Hawker Hurricane control column parts I.D and help

Morning all
I’ve attached a photo of several items which came to me as part of a job lot. They were labelled as Hurricane control column items.
The 2 chains speak for themselves although I presume the shorter chain is for the top and the longer goes at the bottom. The 4 chain connectors are self explanatory.
The cog wheel is the only one and I don’t know if it goes at the top or bottom. Are the cogs the same size or is there a specific top and bottom?
Likewise with the pin with the castle nut. I don’t know if this connects the column at the bottom with the cog or is the pin fitting at the top. Its about 6-7cm long.
I don’t recognize the two other bits as being anything to do with the control column.
Does anyone know how long the connecting rods are that join the 2 chains together.
There were also 2 control columns (bottom lengths) and 3 elbow joints that fit at the bottom on either side of the universal joint
I haven’t got any plans or drawings that show the components to make a column so I have to rely on members for help.
