I’m looking for advice on the best way to straighten Hurricane fish plates for a static airframe. I know that it’s best to bend stainless steel cold but I can’t budge the A plates or the flange on the F plate.
Any advice, techniques, etc will be appreciated. I should mention that I’m trying to straighten a set of A plates, B port crow foot, starboard C plate, and a starboard F crow foot.
Thanks,
Ron

B & F are steel so can be heated and then straightened

Thank you Tony. Hadn’t thought of using a vise. Great idea. The B and F joints are in very good condition but a couple of flanges are slightly bent. Would it be worth it to heat up joint and then bend it?

The B & F crowfoots might be alittle too difficult…..if you do not need them to sit on a set of webs, just make sure the rest of the joints are truish. Brute force, a vice or fly press in the best way for fish plates…..
