Hawker Hurricane Society

The Hawker Hurricane Society

Formation of The Hawker Hurricane Society was suggested by the late ACM Sir Christopher Foxley-Norris GCB,DSO,RAF (Retd) and was founded on 8th May 1999 at a meeting convened by Iain Arnold and Tim Warrener at Tangmere Military Aviation Museum, Sussex.

The aims of the society are to:-

Promote the memory and history of the aircraft.
Honour those who served.
Unite family and friends associated with the aircraft.
Aid those who restore and operate them today.

Since that inaugural meeting, The Hawker Hurricane Society has attracted members from all over the world, both veterans and enthusiasts alike, and during that time the Society has visited not only air shows and events in this country with our display and merchandise, but also in Malta in 2001 and 2005, with the latest thing being that of 1940’s themed events we have even started to attend these as well.

The Society has now also collected and purchased a number of items relating to the Hurricane and its history for archive and research purposes, we now have a substantial photographic archive, drawings, substantial remains of a Hurricane and display boards which we take with us to events when at all possible so that other people can see them, because of the interest in these we have given talks to groups about the history of the Hurricane and have just lately started to put something together for schools for the National Curriculum.

I am so glad to come across this post I hope to produce some art soon for Hurricanes and I shall undoubtedly be in touch at that time.
