Hawker Hurricane P3175, DT-S P/O Gerald Maffett BoB Hall Hendon

Noting in the Hendon thread that a  Sean Maffett a member here who’s uncle ‘P/O Gerald Maffett’ lost his life on 31st August 1940 whilst in combat over the Essex coast in Hawker Hurricane P3175, DT-S, this aircraft being excavated in the 1970s from its crash site at Walton on the Naze then to be renovated to become the main center piece display in The Battle of Britain Hall at RAF Hendon.

NOTE: This is ‘THE RAF MUSEUM HENDON’ not just some private collection, our heritage our ‘FEW’  the ‘FEW’ that started the end of WWII in Europe, the ‘FEW’ that gave the ultimate sacrifice so someone could have a nice warm office job destroying the historic battle fought over the skies of Great Britain.

Please make your thoughts known here, P3175 should it’s remains be reinstated as soon as possible ?

A salute to you Sir

P/O Gerald Maffett

I feel that P3175 should have its own quiet area and be a centre point for the few, a focal point a place that maybe has all the names of The Few and naming the missing ones, never found to this day.

To answer Trolley Aux: of course P3175 should be put back on display as a memorial to all the Few.
