For those who had not realized that on Sunday 6th November it’s 70 Years since the Hawker Hurricane took to the skies. The first flight was from the Brooklands aerodrome.
The Brooklands Museum is holding a Hurricane celebration on Sunday 6th in conjuction with the Hurricane Society. All are welcome to this event and more details can be found on:
http://www.brooklandsmuseum.com
Please come and support this event and meet some of the people who helped win the Battle of Britain, Hurricane and Brooklands Lecture, Running Merlin Engine.
Look forward to seeing You there!!..

Nice reading, with some excellent photos, though not really detailed enough about the restoration for me. Too many chapters on the Indian red tape, and not enough on the nuts and bolts!
That’s probably the Vacher’s view too…
Get Melvyn Hiscock’s excellent Hurricane book then – if that’s not enough nuts and bolts for you, we are bringing another obsessive detail book out soon: MMP’s Hurricane book .
While the Hurricane hasn’t the coverage of the Spitfire, there are (nevertheless) no end of good books on it.

This seems a good place to say that I’ve just treated myself to Peter Vacher’s book on R4118 for all of a fiver second hand (much better than paying twenty quid for a book that size!)
Nice reading, with some excellent photos, though not really detailed enough about the restoration for me. Too many chapters on the Indian red tape, and not enough on the nuts and bolts!
Beautiful example of a lovely breed, though.

Fantastic Phots….heres my baby taken last year. Apparently she does not warrant a mention in the Flypast survivors as she is only 85% original

Happy birthday to the hurricane, ok flypast will barely mention it while devoting whole issues to another british fighter starting with S that has a milestone this year.
But the hurricane is such an amazing aircraft, i have just started reading the book on the recovery of R4118 and it made me think that the prototype hurricane just vanished into history never to be seen again, so you never know it could be in a barn or university somewhere ?
Anyway thanks old girl for been there in our time of greatest need.
