Can anyone confirm that this photo is Spencer Flack’s G-FURY? If it is, then when was the plane converted from a T MK20 to a single seater? I suspect the caption is wrong and that this is one of the Furies that went from Germany to England, and then to the U. S. Anyone with a clue?

I know all too well what frame station numbers are (the proper terminology ), but was confused by “fuselage station drawings”, hence the question to clarify, but the discussion didn’t get that far!

Lee
Station numbers are a way of finding specific points of a fuselage structure, station zero would normally be near the nose of the a/c at a fwd frame, stations are then a measurement aft of that datum in inches or mm.
Therefore a station drawing resembles a frame drawing but the markings are a measurement from the fwd datum.
Gosh its too early for tech stuff 😀

Including those who ask genuine questions, such as my original (see above)? I asked what you meant, as your question simply didn’t make any sense.

hi all,
could someone let me have a scan of the fuselage station drawings for this aircraft, not bothered about size so long as the numbers are readable.

Thanks a lot Mark for the info. It would be BCOW and not BCOV? Also, I found another of the ex- German Furies while searching. Would you agree that it is G-BCKH as the photo caption says?
T J Johansen
Definitely G-BCOW in my log and confirmed by this website
http://www.warbirdsresourcegroup.org/registry/furyregistry/fury-vx281.html
Can’t help on the other Seafury – not really my specialist thing.

The photo on Airliners.net was accompanied by another from the other side, also given as G-FURY. The very next photo is of G-FURY in the familiar red/white colors. All photos are shot by the same photographer at Elstree in the late 70’s. I have just found another photo of #253. There the plane is identified as G-BCOV. Will try to upload the first photo again!
