Hi All,
I wanted to appeal to all of my fellow aviation ethusiasts and professionals to ask for your help , We have moved and started restoring the last full Hawker Siddeley Trident 1c G-ARPO at the Sunderland aircraft museum We have done very well so far this year and raised £1600.00 of this years target of £3000.00 and would very much like to get to our goal while the weather is good.
Much has come on of late with the front section painted out with the flight deck half done. The front toilet is complete and we have lighting working in the galley toilets and no smoking signs. We have also had new carpet fitted in this section and vinyl by the doors. We would very much like to be able to finish the front section with covering the seats , bringing the airstairs from Cosford and starting a lot of work on the outside fuselage.. If we are going well we could have a coat of paint on before the winter.
Please come and visit our website at http://www.savethetrident.org and see all what we have done to date. We have even collated to date 125 ex trident pilots flights into a log of its flying history. Please If you can or would like to donate you can through our website and help us reach this years restoration goals,
kindest regards tony

Hi all
We have now successfully removed and brought back to the museum the Spey engine nacelles ,intakes and jet pipes that were on BAC1-11 ZE432 at Boscombe Down military airbase. This now gives us everything we need to complete the no1 and no3 engine nacelles.
I just want to say it was a fantastic team effort with 5 of us going down to remove them and with our remaining team members helping the unload at the museum the following day. Would like to thank Holiday inn for giving 2 of our team who drove down with the van and scaffolding theday previous a free night sleep and breckie and also HSS for letting us have the 2 x 3m towers with 70% off. And of course we would very much thank all the guys at QinetiQ who gave us the nacelles and helped us hugely on the day from sourcing 2 of the parts around the military base which wernt on the aircraft.
Such a successful day with no problems at all… and what a boost for G-ARPO
Cheers Tony

Hi All
A most successful day at the museum yesterday with Trident PO being moved within the museum. This is a much better place for her and will allow us to bring the Cosford steps over. Go to the Save the Trident website http://www.savethetrident.org/ for the full syory and a selection of pictures of the day

Thanks Tony and Tim,
Its a joy to know people are enjoying seeing it come together.
Thanks also for the flight imfo tim . We as yet have not be contacted by any of the three pilots that were on that flight. Hoping to get to 150 pilot logs by the end of the year we are on 126 with an average of 1 a week coming in.
More will be added to the site in the next couple of weeks so keep an eye out .. Spread the word
cheers tony

Excellent work with the restoration. My log of flights shows that I was on board ‘RPO on the evening of 07 December 1969 from Heathrow to Birmingham. The use of a Trident on the Birmingham flight was unusual as Viscount or Vanguard was the norm indeed I had flown down to Heathrow on a Viscount that morning. The flight log on your website for ‘RPO lists a flight by the aircraft that day from Heathrow to Vienna but makes no mention of the BHX visit so this may be of interest.

Looking good Tony, you deserve lots of funding, it’s nice to see a good preservation story going forward.
