I think when I have my Temp II and Temp V rebuilt to flying condition I will get Richard Grace to do it 😉

Hi All,
Watched it again as I have been following his build for a while, he said he cannot find the exact date changes took place, but approximately the 1st 50 airframes still carried the ‘ Butt Plate ‘ modification, so that would mean the KW Tenpest V is one of them.
Just great new info coming out from these fascinating projects, all in all great news for us enthusiasts. Just think about the line up on the flight line even if they do not fly together when the project is finished.

Hi All,
Zac you beat me to the punch matey!!…. : -)
An excellent conclusion to the 3Pt series and the prospect of seeing the Mk V fly in the UK before being shipped to Kermits FOF is now certain, not only that but the knowledge gained will further enhance the two Typhoon restorations that are also on going in the UK and Canada.
One thing I noticed on the Mk V R/fuselage were the strengthening plates that adorned Typhoon fighter were also present.
Was this modification manufactured like this on all Tempest R/fuselages after the discovery of Typhoon fault ? or Could this be a Typhoon fuselage utilised with the introduction of Tempest V began production ?

Exciting times Geoff. It would make great sense to have his Lancaster rebuilt here in England while all the knowledge and Jigs are in place.
KW has limited space now and the big airframes would need a home.
I am guessing EK have been in contact for swap parts for JJ. I would think finding the French parts must be hugely cheaper shipping to the UK than from the USA, Brexit or no Brexit.

Hi All,
I am looking forward towards Pt.2. of the KW video, as always with his videos lot’s of glimpses of other projects going on in the background or just other rarities tucked away awaiting their time in the queue.
Could this deal see the possibility of three tempests flying together ? let alone on their own or the possibly be a Hurricane/Typhoon/Tempest’s/Fury/Sea Fury formation be in the making ? If fate can play a part and all the restorations including testing come together in time for a couple of UK air shows ? What a site it would be, the news on it’s own of KW’s tempest coming over is quite astounding just on it’s own.
One question it begs in my tiny mind at least is:- If KW is willing to ship the tempests back to the UK, what about the the Lancaster ? I wonder if he has talked to Andrew Panton ? I only ask as I imagine with just a few years left on the Just Jayne restoration it would be very wise to have the team either go out to the US or have the Lancaster shipped back to East Kirkby.
The only snag I see is that I am sure KW has mentioned in past videos the larger aircraft will have to wait for a while as more historical airframes are in the queue first let alone his ongoing FOF museum improvements.
Having said this it would be a very good earner giving the LAHC the much needed funding to help with the B-25/Blenheim IV(Bolingbroke)/Hampden and the Proctor both the latter two seem are very much on the back burner sadly but the dream of a taxiing Hampden anyone ? all these aircraft could benefit greatly if this could be done IMPO.
I know, I know, looking through my very thick lensed Rose tinted glasses. :- )

Isn’t it heading BACK to the U.K.? If memory serves me correctly, it was with Personal Plane Services and Tony Bianchi prior to being shipped to the U.S.A.!

I would imagine, that because it is the same goal for the Typhoon preservation group, that the certification ball is well and truly rolling.
Three different Napier Sabre powered projects, it could only make sense that the teams were cooperating with each other.
By: HP111 - 21st February 2024 at 09:21
What is the position with certifying a Sabre-powered aircraft in the UK?
By: FKA Trolley Aux - 21st February 2024 at 08:05
Im guessing they would like to test fly it here before shipping back. possibly means it will drop in to Duxford as most of Air-Leasings test flights do.
