Have a great weekend all looks like really great airshow time just like the old days

So this is the aircraft that crashed in 1996 and for some reason they wrote 2006 on the label? Weird..

The only agreement with TFC and the unfortunate pilots family was that it wouldn’t be rebuilt. Seeing a
chunk of wing for sale would indicate they’re good to their word.
By: trumper - 11th July 2017 at 12:02
I guess someone from the TFC was happy enough to sell it/pass it on.Surely these bits were recovered officially by the accident investigators.

I believe the nose art panel is on the wall of the workshop that restored the FW-190 in Norfolk before it went to the USA.

Seem to recall seeing a picture of her nose art hanging on a wall in a picture. The wing part might appeal to someone – it takes all sorts!

I’ll always remember the P38 in it’s silver paint sceme being demonstrated one press day Thursday before Flying Legends (year escapes me).
Stephen Grey was displaying her on what was quite a gray cloudy day.
I’d always thought the P38 was an underpowered and not very good aircraft until that day.
The power dives, climbs and loops it performed were truly awe inspiring.
Happy days.

How is this any different to buying parts taken from wartime crash sites where aircrew perished? Or, for that matter, buying a fatal wreck such as PV202 to rebuild?
By: The Bump - 10th July 2017 at 12:03
I can’t think why anyone would want that. Very disappointing.

The wreckage sat on the North side at Duxford for some time after the accident, and eventually found its way back to the USA.
By: trumper - 10th July 2017 at 11:48
If it was the Duxford one how did they get that ? surely it would be part of the accident investigation and owned by TFC.

Wing image? Was shocked to see times change I guess
By: Zac Yates - 10th July 2017 at 00:56
“Slightly alarmed to see part of P38 wing Duxford 2006 written on it for sale for at one of the stalls.” – a typo for 1996, or did something happen to one in 2006? If 1996 I’m not a fan of making money out of something like that!
By: Trolly Aux - 9th July 2017 at 09:36
So was there a problem with the engine and that is why it did not fly or is it DA complications?

Hi Aerohistorian
Im certainly Looking forward to seeing the impressive new hangar completed ( i appreciate these type of projects take a good deal of time and money) im glad to see the Reichenberg in its new home certainly looks impressive.
I did wonder what had happened to the Polish display but now i know also looks to of found a new home in the new hangar.

I too enjoyed Headcorn. Sad the Twin Seat Buchon didn’t fly but made up for by the other displays. The Harvards at the end reminded me of Gary Neuman in the radial pair days.
Had a relaxed family feel to it much like North Weald or Biggin Hill.
Some nice shots of the BBMF Spit and Hurricane refuelling near the museum.
Yes, the P38 wing section was a little grim. But I guess it’s become part of aviation history in it’s own right.

Hawker1966 – pleased you liked the museum & the Reichenberg it was only moved into the new building last Sunday. Work starts next week on fitting out the displays should take us about 18 months to complete everything.

Of Tiger Moth Texan throughout the day and the Devon soon as he landed the Harvard Parky was there waiting to arrange the Devon Spit flight poor Jez very busy.
Slightly alarmed to see part of P38 wing Duxford 2006 written on it for sale for at one of the stalls.

Went today’s display at Headcorn (Lashenden) thoroughly enjoyed it, Battle of Britain memorial flight was the highlight as always, with one Hurricane and 3 Spitfires taking part, then an individual display by a Spitfire and Hurricane, actually lost count how many flypasts they did which was worth the entrance fee alone, a very good turn out of spectators also.
Tiger moth displays and 2 x Harvards (Texan) displaying together at the end, in between the Buchon Me109 did a small taxi run with the Merlin at full throttle.
Started at the museum worth the visit alone with the piloted Fieseler Fi 103R-4 now on display.
Now of to treat the sun burn.
A good day.
