Headcorn plane ident.

Looking at Google Earth the other day I looked at Headcorn in Kent and saw this plane (taking off I assume) but the wings look very short for the length of the plane.

Anyone have any ideas what plane this is?

Following on from what ‘Ewan Hoozarmy’ and ‘PeeDee’ have said about satellite picture distortion, if you digitally ‘squish’ the photo from left to right you get this image.

Mystery solved i think Holmes.

Span is really small compared to fuse length.
Maybe the fuse length is lenghtened by exposure time of the Sat. camera, but the chord of the wings and H-stabs doesn’t look too bad. The drivers club at Headcorn will know, they will all have looked at their own place on GEarth and will have identified every craft visible.

My money would go on a T-tail Piper, with white-painted tips on the wings and tail, maybe a PA-32R Lance?

Agreed about the Ercoupe. Here’s a close up.

I reckon it’s a PA28 or similar but the image has been distorted as it passed under the satellite camera….

definitly not an Ercoupe

Well i’ve Googled ‘Eurocoup’ and ‘Erco Ercoupe’ and the results show the same plane but I don’t think it’s one of those. Anyone else have any ideas?

Erco Ercoupe? Looping?? There is an oxymoron if ever there was one! 😀

Did you mean Ercoupe?

Its nose is too long for that. And the H-stab of an Ercoupe swept back too.

Could it be a Large model?

Not so sure that it’s taking off, rather rolling off the top of a loop. It appears to be fixed u/c and twin stabs. Could be a Eurocoupe?
