Heads up BBC4 Thursday 19th.

Recorded this the other night and just watched it. Excellent documentary, one of the best to be on TV in years.

Ugh …its so fustrating not having these great WW II documentaries like this one and others make its way over to here in the colonies for us to enjoy. As someone who has read and collected all the books and documentaries about THe Great Escape..would sure love to get access to this one. Might hope it would make its way on to the dvd market???? Outside the UK we dont have access to BBC viedo as you do in the UK.

Youtube is a hope for those of us outside the UK borders…speaking as someone who has worked in the television news business now for many years. when one offers up a world war II story …its greeted with little intrest as if one is talking about some war from centuries ago. Great to see many production companies in the UK & Europe still see this topic as worthy of reporting on !

Perhaps one of you might give this FLYPAST American colonist an early Christmas present and record me a copy of this program…. will be happy to pay for postage & shipping….. thanks …. BlueNoser352!

One of the best documentaries made for a long time, well edited, and revealing facts not known before, as a result of the documents being found by the family. I shall watch it again.

The programme guide said it was a newly made documentary. Just in time before some of the participants died. As you say, an excellent and moving programme.
The opening words (his combat report) I remember reading in ‘Fly for your Life’ when Tuck recalls getting it.
BBC4 programmes are on IPlayer and are often repeated anyway.
