Apologies if this has been put up before and I have missed it – BBC 2 9.00pm tonight, first of a series of four. Red Arrows tonight, not sure if the whole series is about them.

Did anything interesting happen in the last 20 mins? I’m afraid I nodded off!
Try this Youtube-link. Some better copies may appear over time (only to be removed because of copyright) but this one will do for now. 😉

The final episode features the Typhoon at Bournemouth.

Yes. There was some interesting stuff about overloading the rotorheads on the Chinook if they exceeded the limits on the 70 degree pullups and equivalent descents. Also some good stuff on the Blackpool Airshow.

I liked the comment about airshow commentators in there. What was it, if the commentator would be quiet for a couple of minutes so the crowd can listen to the Merlins. As for the narration, terrible.
I did smile at that myself, it made me think of recent discussions on here. Anyway, so far we have had Red Arrows, Red Arrows and BBMF, next week looks like Red Arrows and Vulcan so week four must be Red Arrows and Chinook – should be interesting!

…though ironically, the narrator then continued to talk all over the engine sounds anyway…how maddening is it to have a good little series about airshows with some cracking footage, burdened with this dreadful script and narration style. 😡

Vinnie Jones would have been a better choice!
Actors should stick to acting – there are enough decent voice over ‘artists’ out there to do a far better job.

Daz, then the ‘soundtrack’ would have been muted and I had no problem with the pilot’s banter or the noise of the aircraft….
Agreed, it is the scripted commentary that is truly awful, not seen anyone speak up for it……….

Ah, yes, good point!

One more voice added to those above – appalling narration and totally ruined the programmes. Shame you can’t turn it off like you can on DVDs!
Mute button?
Some nice footage, though.
It suddenly occurred to me last night that the last time I saw TE311 in the flesh was at RIAT Fairford in 1993. Really must catch up with her at some point!

loved it, some more great photography.
Brought back some very happy memories of working at RIAT many years ago.

Not just the younger generation by any stretch of the imagination, Alan.
When will you know if you have achieved your few minutes of fame?;)
Well I made the final cut Charlie. Even though they edited me.

The filming was very good and distracted me from that voice most of the time. One puzzle…why did the Lancaster crew not have the use of a knotted rope to escape from the forward hatch. The Nimrods had such ropes for evacuations.

Again, great footage mired by a shocking script/narration style. Felt quite upset watching the RAF’s footage of a burning PA474 landing and her crew leaping out in all directions as she sat there smouldering!

I very much enjoyed this latest one, some great filming and exellent behind the scenes stuff. The commentary didn’t annoy as much as last time but the constant attempts to inject “drama” and tension is irritating, but still it was a great showcase for the BBMF. Next show has the Reds with the Vulcan, that will be a goody.

Missed the first episode and thought people might have been exaggerating how poor the commentary was. But no, it was truly awful.

Commentator sounds like a driver for the Kray brothers,no what I mean ,alright guv !
You said it, he’s such a bad influence…..’Parky needs a partner in crime’….
