On the weekend of the 12 & 13 September at the RAF Burtonwood Heritage Centre Warrington Gulliver’s are holding their Stars and Stripes event, entrance £3.
This is quite a small event with no aeroplanes involved but it is well worth a visit for an interesting afternoon out for the family if within striking distance.
40’s music, singing and dancing, military and American vehicles and artefacts of how life was and other stalls. There were a large number of camper vans there for the weekend presumably in order to visit Gulliver’s and take part in the evening entertainment.
The Heritage Centre is very well worth a visit and is normally open afternoons and is free but please do buy something or make a contribution.
Gulliver’s is very supportive of the Centre and the event.
Gulliver’s is located on part of the camp side of the once massive RAF Burtonwood which I believe was once the largest airfield in Europe. The Base has mainly been used by the Americans as a reception and maintenance site during the war and for mass storage after the war.
Recently the remaining hangers and now the huge apron have been pulled down and grubbed up and huge industrial units built so now very little remains of this once huge site.

Not quite sure about the relevance of a Spitfire on the poster.

Isn’t there also a replica P51?
The pictures, video and the model of what was a massive site are well worth seeing.

There will be a sort-of aeroplane there, Paul – Ian Starnes’ full-size V1 replica.
