Heartbeat on Sunday

For those who don’t know, Heartbeat this Sunday features a Hurricane in the shape of ALK – Widge Gleed. May be worth watching even if your not interested in anything other than the aircraft!

Maggie make-over

Hi Mike J,

The red/ white over yellow CFS scheme is something I have decided to postpone, at least until the aircraft needs a repaint. It is currently in really good order so – with 2 other vintage machines all needing work over the winter I am finding it difficult to justify the cost.

Also, so many people know and love the yellow scheme.

Changing the reg in the meantime is fairly straightforward by comparison and legitimises the all-over yellow scheme that V1075 never actually wore, being 6th from last off the line. I’ll post again when I have decided what to do.

A better class of dilemma….

Not mine…..

It was indeed the Breighton machine. I would have loved an involvement but wasn’t asked.

If there are any movie makers out there, some fly for food, others for fuel but I fly for beeeeeeeeeeeeeer!

My Maggie is V1075 but might emerge from its winter maintenance program (*) with the more appropriate N3788 identity of the 1938 fuselage used in a 50’s rebuild.

I say ‘might’ because if it is a shed load of dough ( a lot more work than if it was made of tin) I’ll live with the current reg. until it needs full repaint.

(*) Deliberate mis-spelling of ‘programme’ just to see if Moggy C is on the ball today. I’ll try to remember to put at least one in all my future posts just for him to punce on. (I actually liked my English teacher but that was back in the 60’s……)

It was the Breighton one, the serial began with a T whereas HP’s at the moment starts with a V.

2 from memory, Peter’s and Rob Fleming’s, I know which one I’d go for….
Did anyone else notice how wet the ground was when the Hurricane took off? It certainly shifted a lot of water. Great to see Breighton on the Television.. All I need to do know is get hold of a copy of the Anglia TV ghost type programme filmed up at Hardwick a couple of years back.

How many bright yellow Maggies are there? Looked like Peter’s to me.

The episode was filmed at Breighton, on the airfield and in the club house. The Maggie and Jungmeister are owned by Rob Fleming, who also owns the Hurricane. We don’t, however, grow yellow Fuscias… as far as I know!

It also featured a Miles Trainer – maybe the one owned by Hairyplane?

RACo’s Tony Smith flew the Hurricane for the cameras at Breighton last Spring – I’ll be interested to see how they integrate a fighter from the 1940’s with a storyline set in the 1960’s…

😀 Well, the listening post at Filey picks up a strange incoming signal, the police are sent out to investigate and find that a long lost Hurricane has reappeared from a time warp and thinks he has got to scramble to intercept the invaders, the Hurricane pilot gets a shock when the planes he tries to intercept are fitted with some sort of jet propulsion and accelerate at incredible speeds, 😀 😀 😮 AAHHH time for my medication 🙂

It lost the plot once Nick Berry left but may be worth a view this week.
